  • Class Officer candidate speeches will be held today at lunch. Class of 2013 will be in the Commons, Class of 2014 is in the Forum, and Class of 2015 is in the Auditorium. There has been a scheduling change: SCA officer candidate speeches will be made WEDNESDAY in the Auditorium.
  • Motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of death for 15 to 20 year olds. The Students Against Destructive Decisions Club wants to remind the school body this week of the importance of driving sober. We would also like to recognize the dangers of texting while driving; a danger every student should think about every day, whether you, a friend, or a family member is behind the wheel.
  • All daily announcements must be submitted electronically by 10:30 a.m. of the day the announcement will be read. Club sponsors must be the ones to submit announcements.
  •  All Club news and announcements will be posted on the Club Bulletin Board outside of Room 120.

  • Class and SCA Officer candidate speeches will be held next week– Class officer speeches during lunch on Monday, and SCA speeches during lunch on Tuesday.   • Students are reminded that notes for bus passes are to be turned to Mrs. Williams in room at the beginning of the school day.
  • Any type of bus change requested for Richmond City needs to be turned in several days in advance. They have to be faxed to the city for approval.
  • Attention rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.  Today is the deadline for ordering required summer reading titles.  Completed order forms and payment should be placed in the drop box in Office 100 (across from the Attendance Office).  For financial assistance in obtaining any of the required titles, please contact Mr. Zweerink in the Counseling Office.
  • Congratulations to Seamus Guy who won an iTunes gift card for solving the bike mystery! The mystery rider was Mr. David Barnes. Congratulations to Sam Menchel who won a bike helmet for participating in the “Why Bike?” conversation on the chalkboard wall.
  • The next bike month event is a City Biking Class on May 17 where you can learn to fix a flat and more. Free tools to the first ten students. Sign up in the library.
  • The 2012 Prom will be on Sat. May 18th at The Westin Hotel from 7pm -11pm. Prom Tickets will be on sale all next week at lunch in the 1st floor commons. Tickets are $25 each.  If you are bringing an outside guest, you must bring the completed form to purchase tickets.

  • DO-NUT wait any longer! The Class of 2014 will be selling donuts in the Blue-stone lobby on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning! 50 cents for one, 5 dollars for a box. Contact any sophomore class officers or Mr. Barnes for more information.
  • Attention rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.  Today is the deadline for ordering required summer reading titles.  Completed order forms and payment should be placed in the drop box in Office 100 (across from the Attendance Office).  For financial assistance in obtaining any of the required titles, please contact Mr. Zweerink in the Counseling Office.
  • If you’re running for SCA or class office, your speech is due TODAY to Mr. White in Room 330 at 3:30pm.

  • Another clue to the biking mystery– not only was this teacher once tear-gased while riding a bike, but they’ve also ridden a bike while carrying a 4-foot black snake.  One guess per student per day.
  • Win prizes by entering an original story, memoir, or essay about biking or bikes in the creative nonfiction/flash fiction contest.  Stop by the library for more info.

  • Volunteers are needed on Saturday May 12th for the  Annual Strawberry Street Festival to benefit William Fox Elementary School.  Students must sign up with Mrs. Williams in room 100 by May 8th.  Earn up to 6 hours!
  • Hoping to run for SCA or class office for next year? Come pick up the application packet outside Room 330. The deadline to submit the completed application has been extended, to 3:30pm on Monday, May 7. This deadline will be strictly enforced. See Mr. White if you have any questions.
  • The cafeteria will stay open until approximately 1:00 pm May 7 – 11 to accommodate students taking AP exams.
  • As of Monday, May 14th, the cafeteria will no longer allow students to “charge” their purchases.  All debt to the cafeteria must be paid by Friday, May 25th.  Please check the menu board for your name if you can’t remember if you owe the cafeteria any money.

  • Today kicks off our National Bike Month celebration!  The first challenge is to solve a mystery.  There’s a post on the library blog today about what inspired one teacher here to start biking. This teacher was once tear-gased while riding a bike. The first student to guess which teacher shared this story wins an iTunes gift card. One guess per student per day.   • Come to the Forum at the beginning of lunch today to watch the Final Four of the 24 competition. After 3 days of competition, we congratulate the FINAL FOUR students: Tyler Garrett, Michael Lewis, Conan Zhao, and Soho Kim. They will be competing for gift cards and bragging rights. They are the last standing out of over 70 participants, so come support them and Mu Alpha Theta. Feel free to bring your food and friends!
  • Congratulations to both of the Boys Soccer teams on their wins last night against Tucker.  JV’s-3-0, V’s 5-0.

We will be offering gift cards to Target, Kroger, Martins, and movie tickets as prizes.  FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORES compete today.  For those who were not able to make our competition yesterday, the first round of the 24 competition is open to all students today. Please meet outside Room 200 at the start of lunch. For those who have other commitments at the beginning of lunch, you can come to Room 200 at noon.
