  • ALL STUDENTS ENROLLED IN AP US HISTORY FOR NEXT YEAR SHOULD STOP BY ROOM 334 TO PICK UP THEIR SUMMER ASSIGNMENT AND TEXT BOOK BEFORE LEAVING FOR BREAK.  PICKUP TIMES ARE DURING LUNCH ON MONDAY, TUESDAY, AND THURSDAY OF EXAM WEEK
  • Enrolled in AP European History next year?  Please stop by Room 231 at the beginning of lunch next Monday, Tuesday or Thursday to pick up your summer assignment and textbooks
  • The Senior Check out list is ready for you to pick up in the School Counseling Office. It is due back to your Senior Counselor by 11:30 am WEDNESDAY JUNE 12th

  • Mu Alpha Theta’s members are offering Math tutoring June 3-7, during lunch in room 202. We are going to help you to be ready for the Final Exams.
  • Attention students who are taking ECON/PF online this summer:  Ms. Parker will be available during lunch in computer lab 210 if you would like assistance in getting started
  • Attention All Freshman taking Health and PE.  Please bring in your book to class to turn in this week.
  • Have you met Mr. Sidney Kessler? Then you know he loves books! And this week, he’s giving books away to you. Drop by the library on Thursday, June 6th and Friday, June 7th for a book give-away from Mr. Kessler. Get them while they last
  • There is a very nice navy blue hoodie with VIRGINIA in orange on the front that was left in AP testing.   Please come to the Counseling office if you believe it is yours
  • Do you have questions about college admissions? If so, the senior counselors will be giving a presentation on the college search process to 10th grade students this coming Thursday, June 6th, in the Forum during lunch. The presentation will begin at 11:40. Please feel free to bring your lunch

  • The 2013 Yearbook is here! Seniors may pick up their books on Monday at lunch in the Commons. All other students may pick theirs up on Tuesday and Wednesday, also at lunch in the Commons. If you haven’t prepaid, please bring cash or a check for $50, made payable to MLWGS
  • All library books are due Monday, June 3rd.  Check inside your lockers, your backpack, and under your bed – and return all your library books – or pay replacement fees for any books you’ve lost.  Names of students who need to return books are posted outside the library

  • Attention all Russian club member and movie fans. Are you interested in learning more about Chechnya?  Do you appreciate bittersweet war stories? Then be sure to come to Russian Club’s screening of Academy Award winning “Prisoner of the Mountains” this today after school in the forum. Refreshments will be provided. See Mr. White for more details
  • Are you in need of a break after those AP exams and before your finals?  Come Sign up for Global Citizens’ Corps.’ Ultimate Frisbee Tournament being held at lunch June 3rd through 7th on the field.  Sign-up sheets for teams of 6 or more can be found next to the Tournament posters around the school.  The winning team gets a homemade cake, so come on out to test your skill
  • Yearbooks will be distributed Monday to SENIORS in the Commons and Tuesday for all underclassman.  If you have not gotten your book, bring $40 while supplies last

  • Attention all Freshmen that are signed up to go on the beach trip:  Please join Ms. Todd, for a short but mandatory meeting concerning our trip together in the forum Wednesday, May 29th.  Expectations for the trip, answer any questions you may have, and get you into small groups so that materials will be organized for the chaperones.  Please let Ms. Todd know if you cannot make the meeting due to a pre-existing conflict, like another club meeting
  • A Prep session for the SAT II in Physics will happen at lunch in 112 on Wednesday and Friday of this week

  • Congratulations to the newly elected leadership of the 2013 Girls’ & Boys’ Cross-Country teams. Leading the girls will be Co-Captains Daisy Banta and Bailey Hall. Leading the Boys’ will be Tri-Captains Alex Fleckenstein, Austin Koch and Nathaniel Tombes
  • Honor Council Election results are completed and verified.  Congratulations to Shweta Tembe and Chris Benos who will serve the rising senior class and Reed Caanan, Samantha Swartzkopf, and Connor Wood who were elected to serve the rising junior class

  • Thursday, May 23rd during lunch in the Forum, come hear from Delegate Peter Farrell, a 29-year-old green energy entrepreneur and rising star in Virginia politics. Delegate Farrell will discuss education policy and young people in politics, followed by a student-led question and answer session
  • Let’s go to Belize! An international/interdisciplinary trip will be offered Spring break 2014. You can visit Mayan ruins, take a jungle hike, experience a canopy tour of the rain forest, walk through a Howler Monkey sanctuary, and snorkel at Shark Ray alley. Come to the informational meeting TODAY (NOT THURSDAY) in room 153 at 6:00pm. Or, see Mr. Barnes for more details
  • Attention all rising juniors and seniors. Honor council speeches will be held Monday, May 20th in the Forum at lunch, please come out and listen to your candidates.  Voting will take place Tuesday, May 21st and Wednesday, May 22nd in the Cafeteria.
  • Attention Seniors:  Please return any extra graduation tickets as soon as possible to Ms. Sheppard in room 236.
  • Attention all prospective cross country runners. The most important meeting at lunch today has been moved from the forum to the black box.

  • Did you purchase AP Study Books or Flash Cards to help you prepare for this month’s AP exams?
  • Now that the exams are behind you, help your fellow Dragons by donating your AP study materials to the library so that other students can use them next year.  Did you borrow an AP study guide from the library?  If so, please return it

  • Attention rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.  Today pre-orders and extras of the Summer Reading titles will be available for pick up or purchase from 8:15 am – 3:30 pm in the Bluestone Lobby. New purchases can be paid for with either cash or check.  Checks should be made payable to MLWGS PTSA.  For financial assistance in obtaining any of the required titles, please contact Mr. Zweerink in the Counseling Office

  • Monday is Paint the Town Orange Take Two. Don’t forget to wear orange to celebrate Katie’s sweet 16
  • National Honor Society members, both juniors and seniors.  The drop dead date for completion of service hours is June 1 and membership is contingent upon completion of those hours.  Check your email for detailed information about the remaining service opportunities for the year; if you do not receive an email from NHS please let one of the officers or Mrs. Yagel know ASAP.
  • The 2013 Yearbook is just two weeks away from arrival! Pre-order your copy NOW by filling out an order form outside room 121 and submitting it with your payment to Mr. White. We anticipate that this book will sell out, so the only way to be SURE that you get one is to pre-order.
